Why play it on GeForce NOW Powered by Pentanet

Cyberpunk 2077 is the ultimate game to take advantage of the Priority tier’s high-power gaming potential. Enjoy the ultimate fidelity and play Cyberpunk 2077 how it was always meant to be played with RTX-technology enabled. It’s time to make your name and leave a legend others will toast to for years at Afterlife.

Ah, Cyberpunk 2077, a true tale of Icarus if there ever was one. I’d put the game on the backburner not long after release and never really bothered to check back in as they released patch after patch. Indeed, I’d forgotten all about it until Cyberpunk: Edgerunners came out.

The real Cyberpunk. Forget Johnny.

God, that show was great, wasn’t it? When it was over, after drowning my tears for a bit, I was desperate for more cyberpunk. I needed to sink my teeth deeper into this fantastic universe and knew full well that not enough people from my D&D group would be interested in trying out the Cyberpunk Red tabletop system (Though a friend of mine has now written his own system for cyberpunk that's already over a hundred pages. We're weird like that.).

So, I figured, what the heck, let’s give the game another shot. It’d been receiving patches since release; maybe it’d be a bit more polished after all this time, after all, I hear No Man’s Sky is great these days…

And it was!

More than that, it was fun! That’s right; Cyberpunk 2077 is good! Maybe it always was, and I just let my skyscraper expectations blind me to the game I had in front of me, but whatever the case might be, diving back into Cyberpunk 2077, I had an amazing time!

Taking “Got a city to burn” just literally enough

I went in playing a Nomad hacker, but by the end, I was more like something out of a Japanese horror film, turning everyone around me blind and forcing them to turn on each other as I walked through the madness, a terrible cyber-god spreading my tendrils of corruption (I know, I have a flair for the dramatic, sue me). My best friend played through at the same time and went all out on aping out with gorilla arms and a Sandevistan (inspired by David, or as he put it “Going full Star Platinum on some poor f***.”).

Seeing how he played, compared to my stealthy tech-witch approach, it was like an entirely different game. So, suffice it to say, the gameplay was fun!

A living, breathing nightmare-world

But gameplay alone could not carry a 40+ hour gameplay experience, and it isn’t really even what I came to Cyberpunk 2077 for anyway. I came for the world, and the world is beautiful. The writing, character design and setting of Cyberpunk 2077 are stellar; every character, from Jackie to Johnny to Panam, is memorable and, in their own twisted ways, loveable (with some noted exceptions. Adam).

Night City is the real main character, though. Just like it was in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Night City feels like a place that lives and breathes with a personality all its own. Night City is a hungry monster, an abusive lover, a cruel mistress, and much more besides.

Where legends are made, and tragedies write themselves

Every quest taught us more about this unique awful landscape. drew us deeper into our romance (to use the classical definition meaning, “a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life.” Though I am also in love with this city.) with it.

Living with our Daemons

The game is still not without its flaws; its ending feels abrupt, and its secret route so specific that you’ll never find it without google. Some storylines feel underdeveloped, while others may as well have been the primary plot all on their own. Gunplay can feel underwhelming when compared to stealth, melee and hacking (though admittedly, that may just have been because I’m a bad shot).

Yet now, I can happily say the good far outweighs the bad. I left Night City, sitting on the hood of a Nomad car, arms around my disappointingly platonic life partner Panam, now an official member of the Aldecaldos, eager to see what the world outside the free state of Night City had for me.

In a few months, I’ll find out; the DLC is right on the horizon. Until then, though, maybe it’s time a few new legendary Cyberpunks hop on using GeForce NOW Powered by Pentanet and carve their name into Night City. In the immortal words of Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves), “Wake the f*** up, Samurai. We’ve got a city to burn.”
